A London dry-style gin distilled in a traditional copper pot still with ten botanicals: juniper, 1st flush Darjeeling tea (from the Goomtee Estate in the Kurseong Valley, India), lemon, grapefruit, coriander, ginger, fennel, cardamom, cinnamon and angelica.
Jindea was conceived by bartender Matthew Dakers working with Jack Rackham from distributors Emporia, and bar owner Adrian Gomes. The trio also enlisted a tea sommelier, Ajit Madan.
Sampled on 11/11/2018
(sample bottle “First Flush Darjeeling 2016 Harvest) Crystal clear.
Darjeeling tea leaves, piney juniper and zesty citrus with cardamom, cinnamon spice.
Spicy with cardamom and ginger to the fore. Darjeeling tea notes sit well with classic piney juniper, zesty citrus and nutty angelica.
Black tea notes continue in the lightly spicy piney finish.
A moderately juniper forward, spicy and citrusy gin with attractive Darjeeling tea notes which combine well with piney juniper.
