A special edition Pink Grapefruit Old Tom Rock Rose Gin released early 2019 and flavoured with organic hand-peeled pink grapefruit zest. The peel is added to the botanical basket before being vapour infused along with traditional botanicals. It is then lightly sweetened with muscovado sugar.

Appearance:

(sample bottle 2019, batch 3, No. 290) Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Zesty pink grapefruit, piney juniper and nutty angelica root with parma violets and coriander seed peppery spice.

Taste:

Intensely flavoured with dry piney juniper, zesty pink grapefruit bitter oils and floral lavender/parma violet. Surprisingly dry given that a little sugar is added to this gin.

Aftertaste:

Long dry piney juniper and zesty grapefruit finish.

Overall:

The bottle describes this as being “A classic, sweet Old Tom with a zesty finish.” It is certainly zesty with pink grapefruit and piney juniper to the fore, but is far from sweet. Indeed, despite the added sugar we consider this a dry gin.
