Launched in 2021, 1883 is the first commercially made groseille syrup aimed at the bar industry we are aware of.
Ingredients
Cane sugar, water, fruit juice from concentrate 12% (redcurrant 10%, blackcurrant), acid: citric acid, natural flavouring.
Sampled on 22/11/2021
Clear, burgundy red.
Hibiscus and red berries with a note reminiscent of Parmigiano-Reggiano.
Rich red berry with balancing tart acidity.
Redberry fruit with lingering acidity.
Essential for making the classic Artist's Special Cocktail, 1883's redcurrant syrup doesn't compete with my homemade version but making your own is a faff and limited by seasonal availability. Hence, this is a handy alternative.
