Buffalo Trace launches its first Mystery Migration cocktail competition in the UK on 1 May 2016.

A VIP trip to the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky is on offer to five lucky UK regional winners.

This new competition tests both cocktail making skills and problem solving abilities as competitors are asked to complete various challenges in order to win the ingredients they want to make their cocktail with.

The idea behind the competition is to "celebrate the many obstacles overcome by the pioneering settlers who founded the Kentucky distillery where Buffalo Trace is now made".

How it works

To take part in the Mystery Migration, bartenders are invited to submit two original cocktail recipes using Buffalo Trace Bourbon. One should be a long drink and one should use the theme of 'Pioneering America' as its inspiration.

Competitors who are selected to join one of the UK regional finals (to be held in Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Manchester) will be given clues to test their knowledge of Buffalo Trace and bourbon in general. The clues will lead them to different venues in their city where they will complete challenges to win ingredients for their final cocktail to be presented to the judges.

The prizes

The top prize at each regional final is a trip to the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky later this year, along with a leather cocktail equipment case. There are also prizes of bespoke bar equipment and a mini set of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection for the two runners up in each region.
