No.3 Gin launch their annual cocktail competition, but this year the challenge takes an exciting new spin.

Following three years of the No.3 Unlock Taste competition, the award-winning gin brand takes a new direction in 2021 and establishes a new name for its cocktail competition.

The Pursuit of Perfection cocktail competition challenges bartenders in the UK to create a cocktail inspired by something they find perfection in. Entrants could find their inspiration in any topic, such as nature, art, music or food and must translate that idea into their final cocktail concept. Entrants will be competing for the opportunity to collaborate with the No.3 team on a limited-edition bottled cocktail, and £1 from every sale will go to Hospitality Action.

How the competition works

Round one
Bartenders in the UK are invited to submit their recipes to the competition by Monday 19th April 2021 and they must complete the online entry form to enter.

As the competition will not take place in person, bartenders are asked to consider their recipes as bottled cocktails. Competitors should use non-perishable products where possible. For guidance on this, please contact the No.3 Brand Ambassador Ross Bryant directly on ross.bryant@bbr.com. Recipes must have at least 30ml of No.3 Gin and no more than six ingredients in total, and one ingredient can be homemade (don't forget to include the recipe and methodology in your submission).

Entries will be judged on story, recipe, methodology and presentation. Bonus points will be awarded for the social media image and video, but posts must tag @no3gin and @rossbryant, #no3gin and #no3pursuitofperfection to qualify.

Round two
40 entrants will be selected to progress to the second round in the competition. The list of successful entrants will be announced during the week commencing 3rd May. These competitors will be asked to create their bottled cocktails in the packaging supplied by the brand and return them to No.3 for judging.

The final
The 10 finalists will be announced on 11th June and invited to attend the national final in London, expected to take place on 26th & 27th July 2021. The top three winners will be announced during the trip.

The judging panel comprises Alessandro Palazzi of Dukes Hotel, Hannah Grace Lodge of BarChick, and No.3's Brand Ambassador Ross Bryant.

The prize

The top 10 finalists will receive a prize package, which includes an all-expenses paid trip to attend the final in London and an evening reception at Berry Bros. & Rudd curated by No.3 Gin's Head Chef, plus vouchers and a bespoke cocktail shaker.

The top three finalists will additionally receive an all-expenses paid trip to the No.3 Gin distillery in Schiedam, the Netherlands, expected to be arranged in September 2021 (if Covid-19 permits).

The champion will be awarded the above prizes as well as the opportunity to collaborate with the team at No.3 on a limited-edition bottled cocktail. The bottled cocktail will be produced on a limited run with £1 of profits going to Hospitality Action, and a full media campaign will support the launch.
