According to Café Royal Cocktail Book Coronation Edition (1937), this should be made with rum, rather than vodka. Also, the name is supposed to be all one word "Deansgate".
Thanks, Murry. The vodka-based recipe and accompanying image are from the late-1990s and I suspect I found it on a London bar's cocktail list. Whoever created this version must have read the Café Royal but used vodka - the go-to spirit in the 90s. I'll make, update and re-photograph with rum.
Hi Murray. I've just made and updated the recipe above. I cut the lime cordial back with lime juice to balance. The result is reminiscent of a herbal honey daiquiri.
