The French Republican calendar (1793-1805ish) was a short-lived experiment to reorganise the calendar to make it more logical and ordered. One key element was to associate each day with a fruit or plant that was in season in France at that time, connecting everyone to their agriculture. Today, 23rd October, is the Day of Celery.

Consequently (that word is doing a lot of heavy lifting :), I have been inspired to explore celery cocktails. My celery saccharum is infusing in the kitchen...
