I enjoy this cocktail and have made it several times, but tonight, after my wife served some vanilla ice cream with wet walnuts, I thought "hmmm" (yes, one can think "hmmm" ...and I did).
Usually make it to spec, with Rittenhouse rye and that cognac with the squat, fancy bottle that Jay Z shills. Whatever it's called. But, to get that luscious wet walnuts/ice cream thing going, I also added some Fee brothers walnut bitters and some of their browned butter fat wash. Mmm mmm, good.
