This dark Belgian strong ale from the Huyghe brewery is labelled either Delirium Christmas or Delirium Noël depending on the market where it is being sold.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 16/12/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle best before Nov/19) Slight haze, deep mahogany with thin but retentive off-white head and very light lacing.

Aroma:

Yeasty brown bread, caramel, orange zest and cranberry.

Taste:

Toasty brown bready malt, dates, raisins, figs, caramel, liquorice, tangy orange and molasses with dried cranberries, dried fruit, wood and tea tannins.

Aftertaste:

More toasty brown bread, caramel, cinnamon and black pepper.

Overall:

A huge ale in every respect – not just in strength, but well-balanced and eminently drinkable.
