Leeds bar & city guide

Leeds bar & city guide image 1

This little city in the heart of Yorkshire, England was once the centre of the textile manufacturing industry and is now only second to London in England’s financial services industry. With the picturesque neighbouring dales and moors only a short drive from the centre, and historic York only a stone’s throw away, Leeds is a great destination for a weekend city break.

Even one night in Leeds will tell you how much the city thrives on music: live acts are common in venues, and the DJ community prospers amid a busy club scene.

Like most cities, Leeds is divided into clearly defined late night circuits with the Call Lane area being its hub. Mojo, the famed rock 'n' roll bar is a ten minute walk away and is the oldest and best known of a clutch of bars on the other side of The Headrow. As cities go, Leeds is compact and nearly all our 'Drinker's Dozen' bars are within easy walking distance of each other.

One of the joys of Leeds is that its bars tend to be laidback dress down affairs with a music driven atmosphere. Yet many serve fabulous, well balanced cocktails and offer craft beer selections. The drinking scene here proves that you don't have to have the formality of an upscale speakeasy lounge to serve consistently good cocktails.
