Acquired by Pernod Ricard when the group purchased Allied Domecq in 2005, Kahlúa's production has changed comparatively little over the years.
The last significant change to its core recipe was a shift in alc./vol. in 2003 (so before its acquisition) apparently in response to consumer feedback. Yet Kahlúa was first created in Mexico in 1936, and 77 years later it remains very much a product of the Mexico, every drop of the stuff still beginning its life here.
