Review

The fact that the Rum Club is something of a hangout for other bartenders in the city indicates it's a pretty special place. The appeal is the warm atmosphere, superb drinks and tasty food - not to mention the fabulous Katie who might be left-handed but is one of the most proficient ambidextrous bartenders we've had the pleasure to watch work.

Walk in past the small front patio you you're greeted by the horseshoe bar that juts out into the cosy low ceilinged room, warmly lit by nightlights and fairly lights. Jacques, the French Canadian rum loving bear carved by the owner's sister-in-law stands proudly in the corner overseeing proceedings. He's an impressive specimen weighing in 700 lbs and it took four hours to nurture him into his favourite spot.

The food is as spectacular as is the rum selection and the dozen or so cocktails on the menu. Be sure to have one of the pickled eggs and also the chili-lime nuts. The signature Rum Club Daiquiri is served with a dash of absinthe.
