Review

Tucked away under the staircase of Claridge's lobby is this quaint lounge bar, which acquired its warm Art Deco look in 1999 when the hotel embarked on its first major designer restoration since the 1930s. A Venetian chandelier drapes glass tendrils in front of the white marble bar counter in this small but somehow stately room lined with comfy, red leather bar stools, chairs and banquettes. A similarly appointed, connecting room has a fireplace topped by a mirrored clock. Behind this lies the aptly named Snuggery, an intimate area which seats up to twenty.

Claridge's Bar boasts one of the best ranges of champagne in Britain with Krug and Dom Pérignon champagnes by the glass. The skilled bartenders will make any classic cocktail you request as well as more contemporary creations from their own well devised menu. Service is impeccable.

Elderly regulars are joined by the young Mayfair set and diners from Michelin-starred Fera at Claridge's restaurant just across the lobby.
