The Hide Bar's location below the Wine and Spirit Education Trust, rightly suggests that this is a place where folk take good drinks seriously.

Despite recent openings, the Hide remains Bermondsey's foremost cocktail bar and over the years both the space and the offering have been made plusher to echo that status. Wall-to-wall leather high-backed banquette seating now sits by the front windows with a row of high tables occupying the hinterland between these and the bar. The austere moulded concrete ceiling remains, as does the back bar teeming with high-end spirits against a backdrop of old brewery malting tiles.

The menu has been paired back to 16 cocktails which are refreshed seasonally, but for those that ask the old 30 strong hardback book cocktail menu is still available. Reflecting the upmarket move, the bar no long bristles with beer taps but local brews remain available. The short but interesting and well-chosen wine list offers a dozen by the glass and nearly as many fortified wines. Even coffee comes from the nearby Monmouth Coffee Company. This superb drinks offering is complemented by a broad food menu.
