Review

Despite the name this is a bar that anyone can enter, not a club. However, it is separated from the sumptuous lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel by curtains and at the stroke of 6pm every day it's show time: a real (former) London Beefeater, resplendent in full red ceremonial garb, descends the marble staircase to the lobby where, with great pomp and ceremony, he bangs his staff on the ground, declares the bar open, and the curtains are parted to reveal the bar.

Inside, mahogany-panelled walls and a dark wooden ceiling wrap you in in old-school luxury complete with a glass-topped baby grand piano (played Wednesday to Saturday). The leather bar chairs are wider and more comfortable than an airline first class airline seat and give you a ringside seat to watch Robert Lee at work. Robert has bought his infusions and creativity with him from Berlin's respected Shochu Bar (where he was bar manager) and added a box of perfumes. Select your scent and he will create a cocktail for you using ingredients used to make that particular perfume.
