Réunion (spelled the French way, with an accent over the 'e', we're not sure why) has windows overlooking the station concourse, though has to be reached via the hotel's main entrance. Go through the lobby and the bar's immediately in front of you, with a dark and sexy entrance looking almost like a nightclub. Contrasting with the renewed classic grandeur of the hotel, the bar ismore modern, with a glossy flagstone floor, a long island bar, a mirrored ceiling and lots of decorative clear glass balls. At either end, there are swagged curtain semi-private areas and high-backed lounge chairs.
The menu has a good selection of classics, which don't come with fanfare or whimsy but are solid and faithful recreations (most drinks £12). There's also a nice selection of punches (£14) and house specials also include a range of juleps. Attracting a mixed crowd of business people, hotel guests and media types (The Telegraph recently moved to Victoria from Canary Wharf) this is a reliable place for pre- or post-train journey cocktails.
