About

A neighbourhood, prohibition style cocktail bar in Brooklyn, Weather Up serves craft drinks alongside bar snacks and has a sister location in Tribeca.

One of those bars that's not exactly a secret, Weather Up certainly doesn't shout about its existence from the rooftops either, refusing to publish a phone number or have a website.

Once you've schlepped over to Prospect Heights (get a cab), it's identifiable only from the tiny number above the door and the white tiled exterior that you'd be forgiven for thinking was some kind of slaughterhouse or morgue.

Inside, it's more like a former Turkish bath, those same white tiles stretching across the ceiling, over a wooden, zinc-topped bar with sculptural bar stools attached to it. There's a little garden out back, perfect for summer days when they serve oysters and fried chicken - nothing else is on the menu, mind.

A minimalistic menu serves just eight drinks, plus a 'Bartender's Choice': the owner, Katherine Weatherup trained under Milk & Honey's Sasha Petraske - that should tell you all you need to know. The focus is on simple drinks, executed well.
