The 1998 Vintage is the first vintage to use stocks specifically laid down for bottling as The Glenrothes rather than being selected from general casks in the warehouses.

This 1998 is the next 'core vintage' to follow the Vintage 1991 and 1994 but due to being laid down with a view to being bottled as a vintage, should be available for longer than previous bottlings.

This is also the first bottling to carry the signature of Gordon Motion after taking over from the retired John Ramsay as Malt Master. Talking about this malt, Gordon is quoted as saying: "It's said that pictures speak a thousand words and this is like Carmen Miranda's hat in a bottle. Tropical fruits lead with pineapple and mango developing into sweet bananas, coconut and classic Glenrothes vanilla pods."
