Appearance:
Crystal clear.
Aroma:
Pungent aniseed and liquorice with faint pine (perhaps from mastiha).
Taste:
Clean and dry with assertive aniseed.
Aftertaste:
Long lingering aniseed with faint mint and mastiha.
Overall:
Mataxa is better known for its Greek brandy-like spirit, but also rightly has a reputation for its ouzo.
