A blend of Barbados pot and column distilled rums, distilled in 2000 and aged in ex-American whiskey and ex-sherry casks in Barbados before being shipped to France where the rums where further aged in ex-cognac casks.
Cognac Ferraud has long established relationships with some of the Caribbean’s best distilleries due to selling them used cognac casks for ageing rum. Thus Alexandre Gabriel, owner of Cognac Ferrand has over the years sampled many exceptional casks of rum and this led him to start buying the best examples and shipping them back to his cellars in Cognac.
These rums have been aged in their Caribbean distilleries in hot and humid conditions, generally in American ex-whisky casks. After being shipped to Cognac Ferraud’s Château de Bonbonnet the rums are transferred into casks previously used to age cognac and left in Cognac Ferraud’s cool cellars for several months to two years. The result is a range of ‘Plantation’ branded rums from around the Caribbean.
