The whisky used in this celebratory single malt was drawn from ex-sherry casks on 6th February, the date of the Queen's ascension, and the first week of June, traditionally when Jubilees are celebrated. Bottled at 52% alc./vol., in line with the Queen's accession year.

The bottle's label depicts Arnold Machin's 'Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II' effigy, an adaptation of which was used on British postage stamps. Some 2,012 bottles were made, exclusively available from the Macallan visitor centre and from the brand's own website.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 05/06/2012

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Obviously sherry influenced, pungent rich stewed fruit, orange marmalade and vanilla with resinous oak.

Taste:

Richly fruity (raisin, figs, dates and orange marmalade) with fresh ginger and clove. Sherry oak influence translates with slight boatyard varnish notes.

Aftertaste:

Sherried, varnished oak and bitter orange peel.
