This blended Scotch whisky is named after The White Horse Inn in Edinburgh, which was owned by the Mackie family and was the terminus of the twice-weekly stagecoach from London. White Horse was the first Scotch to stop using corks and move to screw caps.
It was created in 1891 by ‘Restless’ Peter Mackie, who joined the family firm in 1878 and later became its senior partner.
