Billed as being the first world’s first Fairtrade, organic and gluten-free lager, Mongozo is brewed with organic malted barley, then processed so each bottle contains less than 10ppm of gluten. The Fairtrade aspect refers the organic rice used in this ‘pilsner’? The hops are also organic.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 05/01/2013

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber with one finger-thick off-white head and spotted lacing.

Aroma:

Grassy (2-day old glass cuttings), overripe pineapple and breakfast bran with hints of soft rubber.

Taste:

Grassy with herbal, metallic hops and faint ginger. Lacks punch and flavour.

Aftertaste:

Lacklustre flavour but drinkable. And ethical!
