Marketed as a digestive, this bitter-sweet liqueur is flavoured with natural extracts of 46 herbs, roots, fruits, wild berries and spices (with caramel colouring E150).

First produced in late 2011, Fruko-Schulz Bitter’s flavour, profile, green label and rectangular green bottle are reminiscent of Jägermeister.

Appearance:

(sample produced 29-Jul-13) Clear, deep reddish-brown with burgundy glints.

Aroma:

Pungent and herbal with cherry, stewed fruit, cola cube sweets and liquorice with floral blossom and delicate cinnamon spice.

Taste:

Bitter-sweet and lightly syrupy with liquorice, stewed prunes, sloe berries, chocolate and light cinnamon and black pepper spice. Reminiscent of an Italian amero.

Aftertaste:

Liquorice, cola and cracked black pepper spice.
