To mark the 120th anniversary of when Giulio Cocchi first made aromatic wines and the establishment of the firm, in 2011 the Giulio Cocchi Spumanti company resumed production of this sweet vermouth reviving its original recipe.

Vermouth di Torino is one of only two geographically protected AOC vermouths (the other being Chambery). Storico Vermouth di Torino is based on Moscato wine from the Asti region which is infused with a secret recipe of locally sourced and imported botanicals.

Review and Tasting

Appearance:

Clear, bonze with red glints.

Aroma:

Fruity and spicy with orange peel, chocolate, Indian spice, cinnamon, smoked crispy bacon and menthol. Some dandelion and burdock.

Taste:

Fruity and raisiny, with underlying spicy, citrusy bitterness over which are layered sweet flavours of liquorice, orange zest and juice, rhubarb, grapes and cocoa.

Aftertaste:

Slight smokiness to the lingering, quinine, bittersweet finish with a faint hint of curry spice.

Overall:

Rich, raisiny and honeyed with drying quinine, rooty bitterness and complex spice.
