A festive English brown ale with a back label that questions how a fat Santa could ever gain access any home via its fireplace. The front label features an illustration of Santa toasting over a working fireplace as he arrives.

According to the U.S. distributors, the original Warm Welcome label image showed a child lighting a fire under Santa. Sadly, the kid was painted out due to concerns about bureaucrats objecting to the image of a child on the label.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 22/12/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle BB 21/Oct/18) Clear, coppery amber/chestnut brown with thin quickly diminishing off-white head.

Aroma:

Nutty brown crusty bread, muscovado sugar and caramel with dark fruity esters.

Taste:

Malty caramel sweetness, hazelnut, toasty brown bready malt with burnt sultana and raisin fruit.

Aftertaste:

Toasted bread and burnt raisins.

Overall:

Vinous alcohol and flavours reminiscent of slightly burnt fruity bread pudding.
