Review and Tasting

Sampled on 21/08/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle BB 09/Apr/17) Clear, deep chestnut amber with a thin but retentive off-white head and moderate lacing.

Aroma:

Roasted chestnuts, caramel with Bovril-like notes.

Taste:

Moderately bitter citrus and grassy hops offset sweet roast chestnut and burnt caramel. Like the nose, the palate has a meatiness about it.

Aftertaste:

Grassy, lightly bitter finish with lingering burnt caramel.

Overall:

We’ve found most of the “alcohol free beers” we’ve sampled disappointing, yet had high hopes for this “alcohol free ale” by St Peter’s, sadly we found it equally unbeer-like. Perhaps have a nice cup of tea instead.
