Review and Tasting

Sampled on 03/03/2017

Appearance:

(sample bottle BBE Aug/19) Hazy (with heavy yeast sediment if you don’t pour carefully), coppery blond with retentive off-white head and light lacing.

Aroma:

Yeasty bread and hops with apple, citrus, clove and light white pepper. Faint mushroom soup.

Taste:

Medium to full-bodied. Bitter hops balance sweet yeasty bready malt with faint tart apple fruitiness and light clove and peppery spice.

Aftertaste:

Dry finish with fruit tartness and lingering white pepper spice.

Overall:

A classic saison in every respect – and perhaps the world’s most respected saison. Bready yeasty sweetness, bitter hops and tart fruitiness with light clove and peppery spice.
