A limited-edition 100% maltwine genever which is made using the maltwine used in the blend which comprises Old Duff Genever. Unusually, this maltwine is milled, mashed, fermented and distilled in Holland.

Appearance:

(sample bottle batch 001, Seal of Schiedam Series: 73) Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Freshly baked brown bread, nutmeg, clove and black pepper spice, freshly sawn sappy pine.

Taste:

Spicy (cracked black pepper, clove, nutmeg), brown bready maltiness, piney hops and piney juniper.

Aftertaste:

Bready spice continues through the long finish.

Overall:

At 45% and with a spicy high rye content, this is far from an easy mass-market genever – if indeed any genever can be considered mass-market (watch this space). However, Old Duff 100% Maltwine is honest, genuine and well-made. Serving ice cold with beer knocks back the spice and makes for an interesting Boilermaker – particularly with IPAs.
