Clear, mid-golden amber.
Coal dust, salty sea air, sarsaparilla, smoldering embers, soot, waxy wood polish, hickory smoked almonds, blackened Christmas cake and burnt Eccles cake with black pepper and lemon oils. Water releases smoked kipper aromas and accentuates spice.
Medium to full-bodied. Lightly salty and smoky with black pepper spice mellowed by waxiness, sweet malt and rich burnt sultana fruitiness. Freshening notes of mint and zesty lemon. Mellows and becomes more integrated with water. It takes a lot to drown this malt.
Moderately smoky and slightly salty with light but warming spice, orange zest, vanilla, and lemon zest.
A delicious new blended malt which delivers great structure and flavour against a well-convived concept. If Bunnahabhain hadn’t used the name first in 2017 as third instalment in their 2017 World Traveller series, Cladach would surely become a new ongoing Diageo brand. It still might. We hope so. In the meantime splash £155 for one of the limited release bottles.
