Brewed in the same way as for Adnam’s 4.5% alc./vol. Ghost Ship using Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara malts, hopped with Citra “and a blend of other American hop varieties.” The alcohol is then removed using osmosis.

Appearance:

(sample bottle best before end Dec/19) Clear, deep golden amber with a moderately thick, retentive light beige head leaving thick lacing.

Aroma:

Zesty grapefruit and lime, caramel malt and light honeysuckle.

Taste:

Medium-bodied. Assertive pine and citrus hop bitterness with caramel maltiness.

Aftertaste:

Long, fairly bitter, black tea and citrus finish.

Overall:

I’ve endured many alcoholic beers that are not nearly as good as this alcohol-free version. It has bitterness over flavour but as a non-alcoholic drink with just 90KJ calories, Ghost Ship is cleansing and refreshing.
