Part of Cockburn's "Tails of the Unexpected" range, this barrel-aged tawny port is sourced from the finest casks usually destined to produce Cockburn's 20-year-old tawny ports.

A new generation at Cockburn's challenged their winemakers to produce a range of Tails of the Unexpected ports using the highest-grade wines, usually reserved for their best wines. Hence, this tawny port is aged in the Douro for longer than other tawny ports. It is brought down from the vineyards just before the full heat of the summer and is blended to be expressive, vibrant, and unexpected. It is bottled young to preserve a balance between complexity and fruit.

Grape varieties: Grapes: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz.

Appearance:

Clear, deep tawny red.

Aroma:

Dried and red berry fruit, chocolate/cacao nibs, nutty caramel, vanilla fudge and honey.

Taste:

Dried and stewed fruit with vanilla fudge, dry tannins, delicate black pepper spice and cacao nibs.

Aftertaste:

A long-lingering continuation of the palate.

Overall:

It compares to and even overshadows good tawny ports with a 10-year age statement.
