Review and Tasting

Sampled on 18/10/2015

Appearance:

Clear, deep coppery amber.

Aroma:

Pungent, oak shavings, cinnamon and nutmeg with dried fruit, caramel and toffee apple.

Taste:

Medium to full-bodied. Bitter cider apple, dried fruit, cut grass, woody tannins and spice (cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper) with figs, fruit cake, mocha coffee and cocoa.

Aftertaste:

Dry woody tannins and spice with pleasing underlying cider apple fruit and grassiness.

Overall:

This agricole rum's long maturation has muted some of its fresh cane juice notes with elegant dry woody tannins and dried fruit dominating. Consequently it may appeal more to armagnac drinkers than those seeking a delicately sweet aged rum.
