Representing Scotland’s Lowland whisky region in Diageo’s Classic Malts of Scotland range, Glenkinchie's standard bottling used to be as a ten year old but it was found that the two extra years in oak imparted generous vanilla to the whisky.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 20/06/2015

Appearance:

Clear, pale golden amber with polished golden highlights.

Aroma:

Barley, freshly cut grass and cream-of-soda vanilla with cooked apple juice, blackened fruit cake, herbal teak wood, walnut shells, toasted coconut and very faint wisps of smoke.

Taste:

Light and malty. Spicy crème anglaise, honey and cooked apple with underlying chewy dry smoky salty oak, clove and black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Smoked barley water with lingering salty spice.

Overall:

Malty and honeyed yet light with spicy crème anglaise and chewy dry smoky salty oak.
