Review and Tasting

Sampled on 01/06/2015

Appearance:

Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Tar, coal dust, sea spray and creamy custard with pine resin, honey and dark chocolate. More woody with water.

Taste:

Sherry, pineapple and creamy vanilla with milk chocolate, peat smoke and assertive spice. Loses some of its honeyed sweetness and creaminess with water – better neat.

Aftertaste:

Long lingering peat smoke creosote and tar.

Overall:

A rumbustious malt with tar, coal dust, peat smoke and creosote – as you’d expect of Ardbeg, but tamed with honey, pineapple, chocolate and creamy custard.
