A blend of 75% Glera and 25% Chardonnay grapes from Italy's Trivento region, Piccini 1882 is made using Prosecco's traditional charmat method.
Sampled on 07/11/2015
Clear, pale golden with streams of fast moving small bubbles.
Ripe green apple with zesty lemon and faint honeysuckle blossom.
Dry but not bone dry with lemon zesty acidity balancing faint honeyed sweetness. Flavours of apple with lemon and faint elderflower.
Lingering acidity with not quite ripe apple and zesty lemon.
Piccini 1882 perhaps lacks some finesse and complexity but is a good dry sparkling wine that represents excellent value for money and is widely available in British supermarkets.
