The origins of Libbey, the world's third largest glass manufacturer, date back to 1818 when the New England Glass Company was founded in East Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. In 1888, Edward Drummond Libbey, son of the first corporate owner, William, moved the company to Toledo, Ohio which is still the home of Libbey glass today, although the company now also operates factories in The Netherlands, Portugal and Mexico.
