The Finsbury Gin brand name was founded by Joseph Bishop back in 1740 and is possibly a reference to Clerkenwell springs which was once the centre of London's gin industry and part of the old London Borough of Finsbury. Today Finsbury Gin is owned by a German company, Borco International.
Finsbury London Dry Gin is based on molasses neutral spirit rather than grain spirit and is distilled in Langley Distillery's still N0.7, a 10,000 litre copper pot still by the name of Jenny.
Sampled before 1st May 2011
Crystal clear.
Cracked black pepper spirit aromas dominate until dilution (to approx. 40%) reveals generous coriander, woody juniper and citrus.
Clean, juniper palate with cleansing coriander seeds (candied ginger, lemon and sage taste) , citrus and Angelica root (musky, nutty).
Lingering juniper coupled with its sheer strength of alcohol and flavour scream
