See more Scotch Export Ale 90 shilling
While Britain will hopefully never adopt the Euro, back in 1971 it gave up shillings as part of decimalisation. There were 240 pence in the old British pound, 12 pence in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound. The term '90 Shilling' harks back to old Scottish duty rates - 90 being the strongest.
Introduced as Odell's flagship beer in 1989, this is a traditional 'Scotch Ale'- lightly hopped brown ale. Only, this particular 'wee heavy' Scotch ale is brewed by an American brewer in Colorado.

Clear, dark coppery amber with moderate head which quickly fades leaving heavy lacing.
Freshly baked fruit cake and caramel with subdued hops.
Backed wholemeal bread served with fruity cake and light hop spice.
Hops more noticeable in the finish with lingering light spice.
