This all-malt, single-hop brown ale is brewed with a blend of 2-Row Pale, Munich and Caramel roasted malts. A new American hop variety called Citra is used for both brewing and dry hopping. First brewed in 2010.

Brekle's Brown Ale is named after pioneer brewer Gottlieb Brekle who emigrated to San Francisco from Germany and in 1871 purchased an old beer-and-billiards saloon near Russian Hill and transformed it into a small brewery that in 1896 was renamed Anchor.
