This seasonal ale is brewed January and February. Like the other best brewed by Box Steam, Dark & Handsome is named after 19th century engineer, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The great man was only a smidgen over 5 foot tall so we guess he had to have something going for him.

Appearance:

(best before Feb-13) Clear, dark reddy-brown going on black with thin large bubbled beige head and moderate lacing.

Aroma:

Burnt malt with slight wood smokiness, faint coffee beans and liquorice.

Taste:

Sooty burnt malt with liquorice, smoked nutty coffee beans and hints of dried fruit and lemon zest.

Aftertaste:

Lingering liquorice and sooty charcoal.
