Originally made for the Japanese market, as the name suggests, Lejay’s Quartre Fruits is flavoured with four berries: blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and blueberry, all of which are steeped in neutral alcohol to extract their rich flavours.

The recipe calls for more strawberries and equal amounts of raspberry and blackcurrant with less blueberry.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 09/09/2012

Appearance:

Clear, burgundy red.

Aroma:

Pungent fresh berry fruits of the forest with strawberry slightly dominating blackcurrant and raspberry.

Taste:

Well-balanced with blueberry and raspberry discernible over a cornucopia of animated red berry flavours with fruit acidity and tannins balancing syrupy sweetness.

Aftertaste:

Long lingering red berries and raspberry jam.
