Val-Dieu Blonde is a highly fermented monastery beer which is partly filtered but unpasteurised and based on a recipe from 1216, although updated for modern ingredients.

The Abbey Notre-Dame de Val-Dieu was built in 1216 and monks remained there, on and off, for several centuries, brewing the original beers. Due to interruptions throughout that time the brewing stopped but recommenced in 1997 when the brewery was reinstalled in the Abbey.
