This pale ale is brewed with Saaz and Challenger hops. It’s unfiltered, unpasteurised and goes through secondary fermentation in the bottle. Taras Boulba is an ill-fated fictional Russian story which Belgians adapted about a Flemish man who marries a French speaking woman, thus angering his father.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 15/01/2014

Appearance:

Cloudy, pale amber with a thick, averagely retentive off-white head and moderate lacing.

Aroma:

Herbal, yeasty, wheaty nose with pine needles, grapefruit zest, coriander and white pepper.

Taste:

Slightly sweet herbal earthy palate thoroughly dried by bitter/sour astringent grassy and cracked black pepper hops.

Aftertaste:

White pepper and pine needles with lingering citrusy sourness.
