Hesjeøl is Haandbryggeriet’s “recreation of a traditional Norwegian farmhouse harvest ale.” It is brewed with 3 grains (barley, oats and rye) and fermented with Haandbryggeriet’s own wild house yeast.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 07/01/2013

Appearance:

(batch 465, best before 17-Apr-15) Hazy, deep amber-brown with lasting thing white head leaving foamy lacing.

Aroma:

Yeasty leather and light spice with a whiff of forest floor, faint wafts of smoke.

Taste:

The brewer’s aptly this beer as, “refreshing fruity and floral ale with a slight smoky”. We concur. and spicy flavour.

Aftertaste:

Wonderfully malty with dried fruit and a judicious touch of spice.
