Most of the botanicals are steeped and distilled in Christina, a traditional 140 litre capacity copper pot still, but more delicate botanicals are distilled in a cold distillation still called 'Little Albion'. The two distillates are married for several weeks before being bottled and hand-labelled.
Dodd's is flavoured with eight botanicals: juniper berries, angelica root, fresh lime peel, bay laurel, green cardamom, black cardamom, red raspberry leaf and London honey.
Named after Ralph Dodd, an 18th century entrepreneur, who in 1807 raised capital to establish the London Distillery Company Ltd. Sadly Dodd failed to properly register the shares and lost a subsequent legal case in 1812. The London Distillery Company did not actually come into being until 2011 and fittingly it is this company which produces Dodd's gin. Dodd's attempt to build a tunnel under the Thames was equally ill fated. However, like all true entrepreneurs, failure did not put him off betting everything on his next scheme. He died a poor man in very sad circumstances.

Crystal clear.
Nutty, rooty pine and balsawood with black tea leaves and cardamom spice. A splash of water releases fresh green leafy aromas.
At smidgen under 50% this gin packs a flavoursome punch. As with the nose, the addition of water amplifies green flavours which combine well with piney juniper, subtle black tea and enlivening cardamom.
Green leafy notes linger with white tea, pine and mixed peppery spice. Both strength of flavour and alcoholic strength make this a G&T rather than a cocktail gin.
