Distilled with 14 botanicals, including: caraway, cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, coriander, cubeb, green anise, lemon, liquorice, sweet and bitter orange, star anise and vanilla. Escubac is sweetened with raisins and sugar, and naturally coloured with saffron.

Escubac was developed from an old recipe for a French liqueur of the same name by Sweetdram in east London but is made by Distillerie Combier in the Loire Valley, France.

Appearance:

Clear, very faint straw yellow with faint green tinge.

Aroma:

Clove, liquorice, caraway and anise with white pepper spice.

Taste:

Herbal, spicy and bittersweet with pine, aniseed, clove, liquorice, caraway and black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Lingering caraway, cardamom, aniseed and peppery spice.

Overall:

Reminiscent of Kümmel with pronounced caraway, anise and black pepper spice. Very complex. Perhaps lacks roundness.
