Review and Tasting

Sampled on 17/10/2016

Appearance

Clear, coppery amber.

Aroma

Pungent pencil shaving oak, vanilla fudge, freshly baked brown bread, buttery new leather and toasted pecan. Faint overripe banana is accentuated with water.

Taste

Intensely flavoured with dry woody tannins, maple and pecan, balanced by rich vanilla and some overripe banana. Enlivening black pepper spice.

Aftertaste

New leather, vanilla fudge and black pepper spice with light nuttiness.

Overall

Berry Bros. & Rudd, describe this whiskey as being a “young, bold bourbon” – a very accurate summary. It may lack subtlety but its youthful woody exuberance is presented with appealing new leather, vanilla fudge and toasted pecan.
