Billed as being the “first peated single malt from The Orcadian Distillery”, this peated Scapa expression was released in October 2016. Scapa Glansa is finished in casks that have previously held heavily peated malt whisky. The casks are emptied and almost immediately filled with Scapa single malt.

Review and Tasting


Sampled on 24/10/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle batch GL01, bottled Aug/16) Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Earthy and peaty with mild smoke, pleasing nutty malt, caramel, vanilla, and faint peach and strawberry Nesquick.

Taste:

Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Woody and earthy with sweet ripe peach, mild bonfire smoke, vanilla fudge, caramel and bready malt.

Aftertaste:

Long creamy smoky finish.

Overall:

Creamy, fruity and smoky with attractive ripe peach and bready malt.
