The Sabatini family have properties in the village of Teccognano in south-eastern Tuscany, so appropriately the nine botanicals used to make their gin are all grown in Tuscany: juniper, coriander, iris, fennel, lavender, olive leaves, thyme, verbena and salvia.

Most of these are wild plants harvested on the Sabatini properties in Teccognano while the juniper berries are harvested in other parts of Tuscany.

The botanicals are shipped to London where they are distilled to make Sabatini Gin at Thames Distillers.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 16/11/2017

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Piney juniper forward with herbal influences and faint hints of olive, thyme and lemon verbena.

Taste:

Dry and piney with juniper to the fore. Crisp and clean with distinctive herbal notes and cracked black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Piney juniper and herbal notes continue in the long finish with olive and thyme.

Overall:

A classically styled London distilled dry gin but with strong Italian influences – particularly delicate olive and thyme notes.
